This kit features our excellent Pedders TrakRyder Foam Cell shocks, front coil springs, new rear leaf springs as well as the necessary bushes and U bolts to install them. Additionally I has supplementary air bags.
This kit is our second level heavy duty kit and is designed primarily to raise the vehicle and improve its load carrying and towing ability. If your D-Max currently sits low at the rear when towing or load carrying, but you still also operate in the unladen condition, then this kit offers a significant improvement compared to the standard vehicle. **
This kit is for those who subject there vehicle to significant changes in load on a regular basis, and for whom the fully laden condition is greater than our Heavy Duty kit 803246 can accommodate and where a stiffer rear spring would introduce an unacceptably harsh ride in the unladen state..
Typical applications are vehicle used by window cleaners with a large water tank installed which will vary from empty to full.
This kit improves the load carrying ability compared to the standard D-Max Ranger rear spring whilst still allowing operation in the unladen state. However, our rear spring, combined with our specially valved shock, allows us to retain a level of ride comfort unladen comparable to the standard vehicle. Whilst the rear spring in this kit is heavier duty than the standard spring there is a limit to what in can support. To assist with this, this kit comes with supplementary air bags. These are installed between the rear leaf springs and the chassis rails. The kit as supplied requires these to be inflated with an airline (the same as used to inflate your tyres) when heavily laden in order raise the rear of the vehicle to an acceptable height. An “on board” air option is available by purchasing our kit 499000.
This kit will raise the vehicle by approx. 40mm (see actual dimensions below) allowing better ground clearance and improved looks. Can be used to accommodate larger tyres. The dimensions quoted assume a standard vehicle. If you have additional equipment on board at the front such as a winch or bull bar, this will affect the final installed height. If this is the case, please contact us as it may be necessary to supply different springs for your application.
** Please note: From the 2019 model, some D-Max’s are supplied new with a softer more compliant rear spring. Fitment of this kit to these vehicles will result in greater improvement in load carrying ability than earlier models. If your load carrying requirements are not significant, please consider our kit, 803229 or 803243
You can identify which spring you have by counting the number of leaves in the spring.
The new, softer spring has 3 leaves, 2 primary and one secondary. The other stiffer spring has 5 leaves, 3 primary and 2 secondary leaves.
For those using the vehicle in a continuously laden state, consider or Extra Heavy Duty kit 803249.
After fitting we strongly recommend a wheel alignment is carried out for optimum performance of your vehicle.
